By using alkaline cyanide baths, which are relatively easy to control, thin coatings with uniform thickness can be obtained. Due to the high coating capabilities, these baths are the most used. Dilute cyanide and Rachel cyanide baths are used to create a thin coating of copper with a thickness of 3 μm to (0.05-0.1 mil) 1.0 over copper plating or other metals. Loose, concentrated cyanide baths are well suited for making coatings up to about 8 μm (0.3 mil) thick. With a small change in changing the loose electrolyte, it is used in electroplating with a fixed electrolyte, with a mechanical stirrer or, for greater efficiency, with stirring by air.
This electrolyte is also used in cases where alternating reverse current or intermittent current is used. Copper cyanide plating baths with low copper concentration and high free cyanide clean the surface of various parts during plating operations. Using other baths will result in incomplete coverage and poor adhesion.

By adding special additives to thick baths, they can be used to produce coatings with different gloss and leveling power and thicknesses from 8 to 5 μm (20mils to 0.3). These electrolytes usually create thick, smooth and shiny coatings. Due to the high strength of the coating of these electrolytes, hollow and sunken points also have a thick and uniform coating. In order to create smooth and hole-free coatings, special additives are generally used in these bathrooms. The use of special additives increases the efficiency of the anode and anode, increases the fragmentation of the anode, and ultimately causes better performance of these electrolytes. Copper pyrophosphate baths are used for decorative multi-coat plating, printed circuit boards and as insulation in the heat treatment of steels.
Copper pyrophosphate bath properties are intermediate between acid and cyanide baths, and are more similar to high efficiency cyanide baths.
